Fermenterarna is a small independent brewery located in the center of Gothenburg, just by the river. Fermenterarna is run by Anna & Niclas who started to brew commercially back in 2017.

In Sweden we have a special segment of beer.
Folk beer, a beer with an maximum alcohol of 3.5%.
This segment of beer is the only allowed to sell directly from the brewery!
We’ll try to have the brewery open some hours every week. Since we are only two people who work with the brewery, both days and times vary.

Who are Fermenterarna?
Anna has a background in the restaurant industry and has for a long time been interested in all types of Fermentation. A passion for sourdough bread, tempeh and fermented vegetables made the step into the beer world feel like a given way to go, especially when she opened her eyes to sour beer. This was also the introduction to the name ’Fermenterarna’, which means ’The fermenting people’.
Anna does everything that can be imagined to be done in a brewery, but is most passionate about making the designs for all the cans.
Back in 2015 Niclas accidentally ordered a sour beer at the
pub. At that point his interest in beer really kicked off. And
when that happens, you just start your own brewery, right?
Well, at least that was the start of the fairytale of Fermenterarna.
In the brewery Niclas is the production master and makes sure
everything works from mashing to canning.
He has a great love for brewing beer that he also wants to drink
himself. The favorites is heavily hopped IPAs, crazy fruited sour
beers and crushable lagers.
